The monastery is an interesting example for the study of Byzantine monastic life, through its uninterrupted contribution to the life and economy of the island during the centuries. Two characters, the real monk and librarian Chrysostomos, and the imaginary one Ierotheos, discuss the hellenic spiritual tradition from the past to the present.
