The man of war La Thérèse, the Franch fleet’s second flagship, was dispatched to Crete in 1669 to fight the Ottomans who had laid siege to Herakleion. It sunk after a sudden and mysterious explosion. It has remained at the bottom of the sea for the past 300 years. Ever since archaeologists started revealing its contents, more than 300 articles have been brought to the surface. The film records the underwater and surface efforts to reconstruct the mosaic of time. The archaeological research reveals the thrilling history of the Cretan Renaissance civilisation and the Turco-Venetian war.
