Abandoned Country: The case of Fikardou

Abandonment (noun) the act of leaving someone or something or of ending or stopping something, usually forever. Αs it is mentioned in the dictionary, a settlement is considered abandoned when it is nothing more, but a somewhat amorphous mass of architectural parts and it exists only as a memory that escapes the lips of very few, usually elderly people. Using the Fikardou village as a case study, this documentary outlines the declining course of the settlement as well as the actions taken to avoid total abandonment. Meanwhile, raising the viewer’s critical thinking regarding urbanism, people’s involvement, legislation and more. Was Fikardou village after all ever truly abandoned?
