Once upon a time in ancient Greece, Paris, the son of King Priam of Troy, abducts the beautiful wife of Menelaus, king of Sparta, Helen and takes her to Troy. Menelaus in order to retrieve Helen and to punish Paris and the Trojans, asks help from his mighty brother, Agamemnon, “the King of men” according to Homer.

The mystery was first solved by Heinrich Schliemann who in 1871 unearthed Homer’s Troy and in 1876 discovered in Mycenae, five royal tombs with unique findings. Since then, some of the greatest Greek archaeologists have set their own imprint in the modern history of Mycenae.
But the preservation and restoration of these findings, is equally important with their discovery, as they are now part of the world cultural heritage.
In 2000, Ministry of culture has inaugurated a preservation and protection project for the promotion of the Mycenae monuments. The palace, the north storage area, the arched tomb of Atreus, the Lion’s gate and the creation of a circuit path which will help visitors to tour around safely, just to mention few of the top priorities.
The documentary takes the viewer on a journey to the glorious history of Mycenae by giving information about the considerable work that has been done the last years for the protection and the promotion of these ancient monuments.
