The new excavations of Chania present to us the early importance of economic leadership in the east Mediterranean sea by cultivating olives and producing perfume. Chania and Palaikastro demonstrate the early cult of Zeus on the island. The other discoveries of Santorini, Phaestos, Malia show the different issues of cult for women and men.
